6 great tips to enabling safe house-hunting

1. Always look at the price – does it seem “to good to be true” in relation to the size, condition and location.
2. Never pay with cash for the rent, deposit or prepaid rent, always transfer these amounts via your bank. By doing this you ensure that you have the landlords bank details and all transactions can be traced in the event of any legal actions.
3. Never pay to payment-services or to overseas account you are not familiar with. Payments to Western Union cannot be reversed. It is not always easy to recognize the difference between landlords in relation to a con-artist and a morally correct landlord.
4. Read to contract thoroughly and check that what you have agreed to, is correctly written in the contract.
5. Always check the report which is drawn-up when moving into the house for any mistakes or misunderstandings. Do this together with the landlord. Always ask questions if in doubt.
